not much is to be known about batongo, previously an active euro dance producer, released a bunch of hits in the nineties. 10 years ago, after a traumatic experience he escaped in peru and retired from the music business, during this years, on his spare time he made a lot of music, not meant for the public, just for himself. now he is still in perù, not willing to move back to europe but barely broke, he sold us the rights on his entire collection of unreleased recordings with condition of not revealing his real identity. we will unveil a series of eps ranging from obscure deep to psychedelic disco, here is the first one, el primero… as he calls it.

first a made up sound release in over a year, following up on the rear window excursion on delsin, the clone basement release and the 2562 fever lp. it features that >left-right track?< heard in many a 2562 / a made up sound dj-sets over the last months. the flip contains a piece of congealed frustration we had to get out of our system before it got worse, as well as the original beatless version of the a-side to calm down again, somewhat. already massive reactions from all the hot guns but of course decide for yourself!

83370 is the first transmission from ollie viero and nico serrus, a pair of french brothers who grew up in a beach town along the coast of the french provence, saint-ayg, which has since become the basis for their name: sinteg. now based in montreal, their collective output has made up the bulk of fur trade recordings signature sound - this sixth label offering is the third to feature one of the two brothers at the helm. they are fresh and prolific and, as such, they are the sound of a new generation of montreal producers. vieros version of house music is upbeat, fiercely layered with percussive latinized shuffles and necksnapping samples. meanwhile, brother mindbend is one of the labels co-founders and has been designing its style and directions since the beginning. together, sinteg is a breeding ground of propulsive dance music punctured with tiny shards of detroit funk and chicago soul, but with the brittle dryness of techno substituting in for the deepness of house.

having played host to the first two daphni edits 12 inches, resista return with the label debut of one tom croose.
one half of ny duo worst friends, toms previous discographic output was a limited & stamped 7 inch that featured a killer edit of the macs >never going back again<. for resista no. 3 he delves into territories brazilian, with >cho chua<, a faultless rework of a certain tropicalista, designed for discerning dancefloors, circa ad 2011. he loops up the swinging guitar intro, which combined with the vocal hook makes for a heady mix. its an uplifting, joyous ode to all things tropical!
on the flip the >dukes dub< is a subtler more restrained version that makes greater use of effects and surprisingly brings the songs percussive elements to the fore... not quite as direct as its sibling on the a-side but definitely as effective!

nice price deal !!! bran van 300 is a musical circus orchestrated by james di salvio. known for there 1998 hit >drinking in la<, this unconventional collective is based out of montreal but also la, and even mexico. this is taken from their most recent album >the garden<, and features the vocals of freddie james, a child star of the disco days in montreal famous for his 1979 hit >everybody, get up & boogie<. fast forward 30 years and we have this amazing collaboration between bran van and freddie that we just had to get our hands on!

morgan geists project storm queen marks a return to his roots with an analog approach towards modern house music with a disco pedigree. >it goes on< features the vocal talents of damon c. scott and is the perfect follow up to storm queens debut of 2010, >look right through<. an underground hit featured in countless radio and club dj sets and charts, >look right through< was licensed by defected records and will be released in a remix package later this year. storm queen physical releases will be limited-edition 12 inches only. storm queen is made for djs, but doesnt sacrifice atmosphere and songwriting. storm queen owes a debt to classic house music from new york, chicago and detroit, as well as disco and boogie. storm queen is a leap of faith.

sex tags mania presents reson - a zealous session of accented tr-808 and live synth solos balancing between the emotive and ecstatic, but not irrational. this live electro jam, recorded in pyramide studios frankfurt, grasps the sentience of techno music - a rare occation in our decade. the countering side appends two parts - first purely consisting of beats and reverb - latter a deep stripped exothermic continuation of the main theme.

hiding behind their three character website is a belgian duo called goldffinch whose steep vision of dancefloor techno marries loveable little phrases of awkward computer conversation with the kind of kick drums that will rattle the windows of your neighbours house when your soundsystem is tweaked perfectly. goldffinch may well be a duo bent on keeping things simple but when the end result, which is built out of such minimal layers, is so arresting, there’s no need to change the formula. not one bit.

release number four on upcoming swedish label local talk brings more of that local talk talent, this time we are presenting an ep by swedish producer andreas saag. andreas is no newcomer to the scene, with releases on freerange, a room with a view, rebirth, deepermotions, artizan and tokyo dawn records out and remixes for laurent garnier, joy orbison, portformat and danny howells, he has become a favourite among many djs and producers. his debut for local talk, back to life ep, contains two stunning house jams that aims straight for the dancefloors. the main track is a piano and strings driven house monster that almost sounds like an updated version of >strings of life< but with a deep/tech feel. should be big in the main rooms! on the second track mr saag delivers a house cut that sounds like its straight out of south africa with a raw tech/afro feel. its dark, deep, percussive and 100% house!

returning to flapjack records vinyl department after a 10 release difference are those lovely uk chaps jackin box. to celebrate their return, they present us with the time honored traditional fun filled experience of the >cow tippin ep<. i used to think this may have only been an american past time, but apparently this is an international phenomena. not only do we love to eat cows, but we like to fuck with them for fun, by pushing them over while helplessly asleep standing up in a field. what a total dick move, but is as equal in fun as it is in douche baggery. so flapjack commends these boys and the fine jams that have inspired such mindless fun.

after years of seeming decline, its refreshing to see the cultural melting pot that is new york firmly back on the global electronic music scene but with the city’s crime rates dropping and a more liberal attitude to partying abounding once more, an invigorated crew of djs and producers are now cropping up with increasing regularity. one such individual is italian-cum-new yorker antonio piacquadio. the ep is nonetheless sure to draw attention as a result of its remixes: both of which arrive courtesy from big-hitters from the techno/house hybrid.the first of these - from cecille mainstay butch – is typical of the sankeys resident, as he jettisons practically all else in favour of a catchy bassline and a smattering of luscious piano keys. in another coup for the label, radio slave then adds his own touch, performing a typical manoeuvre by taking no prisoners via his remix - a stirring concoction of subtle, ominous bells and sporadic, tight grooves.

very welcome reissue of the original sire records release of dinosaur s kiss me again from 1978. written and produced by disco legends arthur russell and nicky siano and weighing in at a heavy 13 minutes long, this is a truly hypnotic disco odyssey which takes you on a curling and tension-filled journey through funky piano riffs, signature scratchy guitar work by talking heads supremo david byrne, tumbling drums, stabbing horns and of course mr russell s swirling atmospheric cello solos. all this is held together by myriam valles beautiful yearning vocal performance until the crazy mind-blowing orgasmic final minutes where david byrne goes wild and the whole thing explodes in pure dancefloor meltdown. choose from the a-side jimmy simpson mix or dinosaur s own more stripped down, chaotic but equally compelling mix on the flip. huge in new york especially at nicky sianos own gallery nightclub, later championed by frankie knuckles in chicago and more recently chosen by twitch as the perfect record to end the very last optimo espacio, this is a true disco classic and absolutely essential in any discerning record collection.

audiojack return to 2020 after a year or so setting up their imprint gruuv. the new single >get serious< shows the duo not only mature as artists but also develop and hone their sound to new house themed productions. the title track is state of the art bounce in a box with a killer vocal hook, >let the rhythm take you<, meandering around sweet insistent stabs. its been smashing terraces, rooftops and discotheques all summer and now its finally available for our select dj friends to carry on the vibes through autumn. >polka dot dress< comes spotted with a sound originally created on the classic korg m1 synth and used by mk to devastating effect in the 90s. audiojack have then sprinkled their magic dust on it and added sweeping detroit techno strings, tight drums and healthy amounts of bottom end rumble. as we look forward it is important to know your roots and audiojack show they know their house history by covering the all time classic by the backroom - definition of a track. no samples at all were used and the guys worked out and replayed all the synth parts before adding new vocals from kevin knapp. by beefing up the original we hope a new generation of djs and clubbers bust out this amazing track. it deserves to be heard again and is produced and primed for todays dancefloors.

the eraly years of a decade are good times for exploration, just like in 1993 when we (alex & sasa) first started working together. we rented a huge loft space on ave b & 2nd st. in the east village in manhattan. the winter was tough, we had 16 snow storms and due to a landlord who hated everybody, we had our heating turned off except for a few hours in the morning, sometimes not even that... the only way to stay warm was to wear hats, gloves and scarves the whole winter... but that was fine because nightlife was a lot of fun. there was a good club/party every night. right below where we lived was one of the best after hour clubs called >save the robots<. but one of my favourite parties was >sugar babes< which was at the cbgbs gallery space right next door to cbgbs, every monday night. the dj used to sample parts of the records he was mixing and then just play the loop of the sample and alongside was a drummer playing to it. it was really inspiring. so we wanted to go back to this idea of sound assembly and create a new series for us to work with called >skematics< its like a diagram or manual to help understand the interconnections between the odd parts we find and assemble, an imaginary manual for a new decade that has not been musically defined yet

ultraschall is an homage to the first big techno club in munich. the owners of harry klein were part of the old ultraschall, which has a unique legendary status nowa¬days. the older generation in particular often long for the good old days. yes those times shouldnt be forgotten, especially not in terms of sound, but its also important to move on and attempt new things. like supporting vinyl, going to a who¬lefood shop or ending war. ok that might sound like a bro¬ken record, but how about spending less time on facebook and actually with your friends, cooking for your parents or organizing a break dance battle in your backyard? daniel takes us on a journey through the past and back to the future again. a charming mixture of laid-back grooves combined with some rough n ready rave moments make this a rapturous trip, no matter what time it is. track names are a really interesting element of music. some artists dont care about them at all and call their tracks a1 or something non-descript. yet many titles can be really funny, others made up words, and some corre¬spond to current events or times. some just really fit the sound. if you lose something, in general its a pretty nasty and unsettling feeling. but you have to deal with bad luck when it strikes. losing something can teach you an im¬portant lesson, or simply show you what it means to be unfortunate and down. not knowing the lows as well as the highs wont allow you to evaluate life very well. most important is to really feel and be yourself, despite the ups and downs.

after his ace remix for nicolas jaar s >space is only noise< here on circus company, our man dave aju is back with an appropriate dose of in-between original music for the fall season. taken from his upcoming album project that uses vintage inherited recordings as sound sources, >all together now< is a beautifully unique track that is guaranteed to move people with its irresistible groove. indeed, the aptly titled jam brings together and bridges gaps of various kinds, from lo-fi and hi-fi to under water and outer space, with classic-flavored dynamic percussive elements, spiraling futuristic leads, and melodic synth work sprinkled with aju s distinctive voice, encouraging us to join in on the live collective claps that accent the cut. the building bass pulses and warm instrumentation stack up toward the ceiling, until a fresh breakdown spreads things out to release the pressure. amsterdam don san proper brings an equally unique and refreshing remix to the table, with a rugged take on the track complete with cool guitar licks, modular effects, and contrasting additional vocal stylings. similarly dynamic in the drum workout department but with an extra rawness, it is a fantastic complement to the original that rounds out the release perfectly.

marcin czubala has been a busy man of late but the paper work certainly hasnt stopped the creativity flowing. whilst setting up his own imprint >your mamas friend<, for which he produced the first release, he is now back with a very strong ep for mobilee records >just away<. as someone who is always moving forward and looking to expand in new ways, czubala applies the same philosophy to his music production and this release presents a very fresh look on modern house music. >just away< features four tracks, each of which are expertly produced and have their own moment in the night, with much more bass, rawness and energy than his previous releases. whilst the title track warms the floor with drawn out synths and a expectant bassline, >memory lane< is an obvious peak time killer. meanwhile on the flip, >not like this< and >pleasure control< carry a calmer deep house vibe, but still enough of a kick to keep the floor moving. enjoy!

despite the post-industrial label often affixed to factory floor, there is a greater complexity of sound within the bands music that defies such facile descriptions. yes, there are rigid, fixed beats, and other sounds from the manufacturing plant, as suggested by the trios moniker. but there is also an underlying danceability that belies the seeming austerity of the sound, a hint at warmth that cuts through the permafrozen exterior. that curious balance has paid endless dividends thus far: they have been remixed by producer gavin russom, liars angus andrew and no ages dean allen, remixed and released by optimo, remixed and collaborated live with throbbing gristle legend chris carter, and remixed and produced (!) by joy division and new orders stephen morris. its been a whirlwind few years in terms of musical accolades, and factory floors dfa debut is a glimpse into why.

here comes the second part of french team lowkey & kardinals electrovino series!
the first part is nicely rockin the floors around the globe and found its way into many cases (or better said file-lists) of many djs from small to big! the second part follows the path with another rocker called oroborus (the name taken from an ancient greek tale of a dragon eating his own tail !) with a kind of tech-housy but techno bangin feel to it, bringing back the old casio organ sound. followed by two versions of indian summer, one in its more smoother original version and the second in a very nice prime time techno version by kardinal himself!

welcome to the first love sick recordings release brought to you by the likes of riskotheque, marchmellow and screen age & mudie (aka southbound hangers). a side >all alone< provides an exhilarating journey through heartbreak, loss and isolation. in the intro, delayed piano chords hint at distant happy memories but soon make way for stark 808s and womb-like sub frequencies that bring the listener back to bitter reality. insistent vocal snippets serve only to galvanize the tracks emotional content. truly a song to cry to as much as dance. in contrast to this is aa >you dont understand<. positivity and hope pervade this little beauty, its glistening synth hooks and intricate drum programming conjuring thoughts of joy and new found affection. perhaps the perfect sound-track to a summer romance.

the second edition of efdemins successful chicago series comes up with another outstanding bundle of future classics. four gorgeous remixes by deadbeat, fred p, rndm and efdemin himself make the wintertime starting extremely hot. again phillip sollmann aka efdemin personally chooses a dreamteam of remixers: scott monteith aka deadbeat is well known from his releases on scape, cynosure and wagonrepair. new yorks fred p aka black jazz consortium digs deep again after we already love him for his large output on underground quality, mule musiq, laid and semester. last but not least dials darlings rndm and efdemin get it well done with two modern interpretations for the excited dancefloor
